This blue and white mug is a porcelain reproduction made in southern China in the same manner as the originals. It is hand-painted with lead-free glazes and no two mugs are exactly alike. This type of mug was never used for coffee. It was probably meant for beer or ale. Paper work from the museum is included. It was purchased in the late 1960's or early 1970's and never used. The original box from the MET is included.
